Emerging Infectious Disease Surveillance Tool (EIDST) Coronavirus (COVID-19) Precautions – Amendment #8

Emerging Infectious Disease Surveillance Tool (EIDST) Coronavirus (COVID-19) Precautions – Amendment #8

The new version of MPDS (13.3) has built in updates for the Emerging Infectious Disease Surveillance Tool and our screening process will be updated simultaneously.

Effective June 23, 2021 (after the v13.3 MPDS upgrade), the three screening questions listed under Medical Director-approved Special Instructions will change to:

  1. Has s/he tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 21 days?
  2. Has s/he travelled in the last 21 days? (If yes, where?)
  3. Has s/he been in close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19, or a person with flu-like symptoms in the last 21 days?

EMDs are to omit the built in questions at the top of the page. It is not required to ask about or document any information pertaining to vaccinations. These patients may still pose a risk of COVID-19 transmission or they may be symptomatic with a different illness. Unfortunately these questions cannot be removed from the software.

The COVID-19 EIDST flow chart on the Active Desktop has been updated to reflect these changes.

Thank you for your continued patience and efforts to support the necessary changes to this process, and for your commitment to the safety of our staff and our patients.

Please email emscommedqi@toronto.ca or contact the on-duty Superintendent with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
